About Wafer
The whole project on one page: how circuits mine, what the token is, how the critters are fabbed, which contracts hold it all, and what comes next.
What Wafer is
Wafer is a Proof-of-Design mining protocol on Robinhood Chain. Instead of hashing, you design a circuit from NAND gates, tape it out on chain, and that circuit mines $WAFER for as long as it runs. No hardware, no electricity bill: the work is the design, and the design is public and verifiable.
Everything that matters is on chain: the netlists, the test vectors that prove a circuit does what it claims, the emission schedule, the liquidity lock, and the 888 chip critters that live in the same contracts. The site is a window onto those contracts, not a gatekeeper.
How mining works
- Mint transistors. NAND and LATCH are ERC-1155 tokens from the CPU. Each gate in your design burns one of them at tape-out.
- Design in the Studio. Write a netlist, watch the schematic and truth table update, check it against a task. Fewer gates and shallower depth cost less and earn a better design premium.
- Tape out. The netlist is stored on chain forever, the transistors are burned, and you receive the circuit as an NFT.
- Arm, then start. Arm the circuit, wait one block, then start it. For a verified task the pool samples your circuit against Merkle-proven test vectors in that same transaction.
- Claim any time. Rewards accrue continuously. There is no lock-up and no staking.
Circuits that pass a verified task share 99 % of the emission, weighted by how much they burned and by their design premium. Circuits that run without a task share the remaining 1 %. Anyone can challenge a running circuit with a counterexample; a circuit that fails is demoted.
$WAFER
- Hard cap
- 21,000,000 WAFER
- Mined
- 14,070,000 (67 %) at ~4,824 per day, halving every four years
- Liquidity
- 6,930,000 (33 %) minted once into a one-sided ETH/WAFER Uniswap v4 pool
- LP lock
- The position NFT sits in a locker until October 2027; only swap fees can be collected
- Team allocation
- None. No presale, no airdrop, no creator supply
- Protocol fees
- 0.00002 ETH per transistor, 0.0001 ETH per mint, 0.0002 ETH per tape-out, 0.01 ETH to deploy a new CPU
- Decimals
- 8
The pool opened at 2,000,000 WAFER per ETH. From there the price is whatever the market makes it; the protocol never adjusts anything for dollars.
Wafer Critters
888 chip critters, drawn pixel by pixel and stored entirely on chain: the pixels, the palette and the metadata live in a sealed contract, and every image is rebuilt from them on request. No IPFS, nothing to pin, nothing that can go missing.
You do not buy a critter, you fab it. Pay a lot in WAFER, let the fab run for about 24 hours, then complete the lot: the hash of the anchor block picks one of the critters not fabbed yet. Nobody can choose, including us.
- Supply
- 880 fabbed + 8 legendary 1/1s
- Lot price
- 4,000 WAFER, a constant in the contract, no setter
- Rehearsal lot
- 3,000 WAFER for verified miners, one per circuit, 88 in total
- Rush order
- 8,000 WAFER, ready in about an hour
- Per wallet
- 8 production lots
- Where the WAFER goes
- 70 % to the dead address forever, 30 % to the fab treasury
- Legendaries
- WAFER-only auctions, one at a time, announced on X
- Market
- WAFER-only listings, 2.5 % of every sale to the dead address, no owner
- Royalty
- 5 % (ERC-2981) to the fab treasury on venues that honour it
Once a lot is due, anyone can complete it, and the critter always goes to the lot owner. If the completion window is missed, the lot is re-anchored for free; a lot can be delayed, never lost.
The full set, ids, traits and rarity are revealed after the official announcement. Until then the site shows a handful of critters and nothing else.
Contracts
All contracts are verified as exact matches on Sourcify and the explorer. The mining pool can gain tasks until its owner seals it; critter prices are constants and the art contract is already sealed.

Questions
Do I need mining hardware?
No. Everything happens in the browser and on chain. A circuit is a few hundred bytes of netlist.
What does it cost to start mining?
Transistors for your gates plus the flat protocol fees, all in ETH on Robinhood Chain: around a dollar for a small circuit at today's ETH price, plus gas measured in fractions of a cent.
What is a verified task?
A frozen spec: pin counts, a Merkle root of test vectors and a reference implementation. Passing one puts your circuit in the 99 % pool. The Studio tells you before you spend anything whether your design passes.
Can the team change the rules?
Mining pool: until it is sealed, the owner can add tasks, approve processors, raise the gas cap and upgrade the contract. After sealing, only pause and the task reference pointers remain. Critters: the fab owner can only pause and open production, prices have no setter, the art contract is sealed, and the market has no owner at all.
Is there a token sale or team supply?
No. 67 % is mined by circuits and 33 % went into the locked liquidity position. That is the whole supply.
Which wallet do I need?
Any EVM wallet that can add Robinhood Chain. The site offers to add the network for you.
Wafer is experimental software. Contracts are verified and the mechanism is public, but nothing here is advice and nothing is promised.
